Mid Wales ...
home to the Royal Welsh Show Ground, the Wye Valley, the Elan Valley and the Brecon Beacons.
The Arches is a five minute walk to the centre of Builth, a small market town on the upper reaches of the Wye Valley. This is an ideal base from which to choose a wide range of walking and off road cycling routes, as well as canoeing or fishing on the River Wye, or horse riding in the hills.
Ten minutes walk away is the Royal Welsh Show Ground, home to the Royal Welsh Show - one of the largest agricultural shows in Europe. It also hosts many other regular and one-off events.
The Arches is also within half an hour's drive:
- north to the tranquillity of the Elan Valley, famous for its Red Kites, lakes and stunning scenery;
- south to the market town of Brecon and the high mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park;
- west to Llanwrtyd Wells, the UK's smallest town, but with a surprising amount going on!
There are many other places of interest in the Builth Wells area, and numerous good hotels and pubs for eating out, but best of all you will find great scenery, no traffic jams and a sensible pace of life.
